Being a Progressive Christian Mystic and Prophet: Defining and Defending My Faith
Welcome to Bible Study for Progressives, a show where moderates, liberals, and leftists of all faiths and ideologies come together to discuss scripture, spirituality, and politics. On this show, I talk about what it means to be a progressive Christian mystic and prophet. I define and defend my views before a group of atheists, Christians, and people of other faiths.
Defending my position before a group of atheists makes for an interesting and challenging discussion. I believe in the supernatural because I’ve had experiences of the supernatural. I also defend Progressive Christianity and the Bible.
As a Progressive Christian, I focus on the teaching and message of scripture and not on the miracles or theology of the Church. Unlike Evangelicals and Fundamentalists, my positions are defensible before a group of skeptics who are familiar with both the Bible and traditional church doctrines. Some came to question my Christianity.
I’m a Christian, because I’m a follower of Jesus Christ, and because I rely on the Bible as my ancient sacred scripture. After discovering many different theological approaches to Christianity, like process theology and liberation theology, I decided to set aside the theology of the Church and read the Bible in its historical context. The result has been a fuller and deeper understanding of scripture and a more biblical theology.
I hope you enjoy this special edition of Bible Study for Progressives. This is Rich Procida. Enjoy.
